The Barony of Adiantum welcomes you to the Egil Skallagrimsson Memorial Tournament!

If this is your first event in the SCA you may have many questions. Perhaps you would like help locating medieval clothing for the weekend.
You will find a large assortment of garb for all ages and sizes in our Gold Key Pavillion. This is located across the road from Merchants Row and has a large banner with a Gold Key on it. Here you may borrow, free of charge, clothing to wear for the day. Simply return it in the evening and it will be washed for use at another event. As this is a long event, you may borrow more than one outfit. There are also cloaks and hoods in case of cold or damp weather.

Are you seeking a camp space where you can pitch your popup or pup tent and be supported as you negotiate this new experience? Simply note on your pre-registeration that you’d like to camp in the “Newcomers Camp”. Our Lands Steward will reserve space for you there. When you check in at Gate you will be directed to the Newcomers Camp. Space is allotted as described in the pre-registeration link.
You will find yourself in a most advantageous location: directly across the path from Merchants Row where all manner of medieval goods and foods are available for purchase, and adjacent to Gold Key, the Chatelaine Pavilion (where information about the SCA, a map of the event, special badges for Newcomers and a few other items are available to welcome you), and of course the Newcomers Social Pavilion.

Your hosts will be Donald Doublerose and the lovely Mearwynn the Silent at this campsite for all Newcomers. The Newcomers Camp is anchored by a 10×20 ft. social gathering space under the Newcomers Social Pavillion. Here you will find a cooking fire and large seating area (bringing your own chair or floor mat is pretty much the rule throughout the event site). You can rest, visit with other Newcomers, and enjoy your meals protected from whatever weather may come. There may be classes and bardics occurring here as well throughout the event. Updates will be posted as they become available!

Saturday evening, following court, there will be a potluck dinner of Stone Soup offered here for anyone wishing to join in. All are welcome! Simply bring 1 or 2 items to contribute to the stone soup and get them to the Newcomers hosts by 1:00 PM Saturday. The soups will be prepared, ready to eat following court around 5 or 6. The meal will include a vegan soup as well as a beef soup option. Crusty bread will be provided. Bring your own feast gear. There will be a limited amount of disposable eating utensils for those who don’t bring their own. Drinks are water or bring your own. Don’t forget a drinking vessel!

The Soup will be put on to cook by your hosts, Donald Doublerose and the lovely Mearwynn The Silent, so that dinner will be ready to be served following Court Saturday evening.

Welcome to The current Middle Ages! We’re glad you came, and hope that you will stay!
